Being and Times Square
Part 1
Time means tide - an interval
A regular, repeating time
An orderly time
That’s tide
And, so, leads to tidy, clean
Tide’s in between (metaxy)
Both tidy and time
Now
Tidy in the medieval age
Meant healthy, yes, and also brave
But this shouldn’t have us
Equate time with health
And justice, necessarily -
Time heals wounds
But causes them, too, so
Times Square though…
Just add an apostrophe
And it becomes a sentence:
Time’s square.
Square, as in fair
Proportional, just
Fair and square.
Time, as tide,
As orderly, as tidy, as healthy,
is square
As in just - a word which means fair
As in beautiful
As in lovely,
As in radiant
With love - as in care
Time’s Square
But should you take a walk up there
You may not apprehend this
Aspect right away
What will time devour?
An hour? Itself?
Oh, regard the big black holes
Of the cosmos
Meet me in Times Square
Bring along your carpenters square
Your gnomon, the one who knows
And what do they know?
The tree of knowledge of evil,
And good, is not the true tree
But just that of custom
The order of tradition
The violent fallacy, the phallus (see?)
Now turn to page two hundred three
Times Square before
it was Longacre Square
Was farmland - known as Eden Farm
A fact: Times Square was Eden
Where there
May have been time
But no history
No knowledge of the mystery
Just knowledge as doxa, not episteme
The true tree’s leaves
Are said to be the medicine
Not the opium
Of the people
The tree that heals
The caudex, the code
That heals, the whole globe
But we are no longer in Eden
Here in the Topos (the mystery)
Which also means: possibility
